Academic Research

We Are Proud To Support Academic Achievement

At Phoenix Equipment, we value academic research and its immense impact on the future and our progress as a society. That’s why universities are some of our most consistent clients. We are the leading service provider for lab equipment to many universities across the nation, concentrating in Western NY. Such universities include the University of Rochester, Cornell, SUNY colleges, and even UCLA, the University of Texas, and Penn State. We are proud to support academic achievement in this way and look forward to the continued difference it will make to those utilizing lab equipment for important research.

Reduce & Save

We know universities are at the forefront of efforts to preserve our environment. Phoenix Equipment focuses on reusing and recycling to support this important initiative. Oftentimes universities are also working with machines with obsolete parts that have been discontinued. Rather than spending precious grant dollars on entirely new pieces of equipment, Phoenix allows you to keep what you have and refurbish it for a fraction of the cost. Regardless of the original manufacturer, Phoenix Equipment can fix it!

A prime example of this type of work is one of our most recent projects, the New Brunswick G-25 Shaking Incubator. These incubators are ideal for university settings, lasting several decades and able to continually be worked on. They are workhorses and outlast most other brand new shaking incubators on the market.
The most common issue with this piece of equipment is worn bearings in the shaker mechanism and/or motor. These can be easily replaced. If the bearings have deteriorated too much, the shafts may be worn. They can be replaced with rebuilt shafts. If the lid hinges are worn out (which happens after being opened and closed for many years), we can supply new hinges. The fan, switches, etc. can all be easily replaced. A typical rebuild can cost between $1000 and $2000 – new will cost $10,000 – $15,000+!
Don’t send them to a landfill – think green (and economical) and have them rebuilt.
